As part of a series of
efforts to address
issues of customer service complaint in Nigeria ,
Reportam .com. ng, an online customer service
complaint platform designed to receive reports
on good and bad customer service has been
launched . The purpose for which the online
complaint platform aims to serve has been a
long time coming giving the myriads of
customer complaints from nearly every sector of
the Nigerian consumers.
According to Mr. Olu Bello , the companys
Operations Manager , “This platform was
created out of personal experiences of bad
customer service which goes unaddressed or
resolved in Nigeria and I am sure this is an
exciting development that will become the first
point of call for all Nigerian consumers
regarding any bad and good service
experience .”
The mobile app ( Apple IOS and Android )
which has a unique auto alert notification to
post a report after calling a company will be
launched in the coming days .
The current platform is just the first phase as
a
bigger phase would be launched before the
end of the year.
Companies also have benefits to enjoy from
this platform and Bello
strongly advices that Nigerian corporates
should see this as a golden
opportunity to hear and reach out to its
customers . Nigerian companies must see the
value and positive part of this initiative as
88% of
consumers are less likely to buy from
companies who leave complaints
unanswered according to an online research”.
In its first week of launch , reportam. com.ng
reported over 500
registered consumers with 65% of reports being
complaints .

The Wiko Cink Peax 2 is equipped enough to
compete with most mid to high-end devices, with
its quad-core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB RAM, and a
4.5-inch screen, running Android 4.1.2. But if you
are unhappy with its performance, the device can
now be rooted, which should at least make it a bit
more alluring, now that it can be overclocked/
underclocked, themed, etc.  The guide below
should have you rooted in no time

I. Before You Begin
1. Back up everything you think is important
before you start.
2. Charge your device to 75% or more before you
begin.
3. Make sure you have the right drivers installed.
If not, use this and then start the procedure.

II. Necessary Downloads
mt6589_rooting_pkg.zip [Download]

III. Rooting the Wiko Cink Peax
2
1. Enable USB debugging on your device. To do
this, go to Settings > Development options and
tick the USB debugging checkbox.
2. Connect your device to your PC. If there are any
drivers being installed at this point, let them do so
before continuing.
3. Extract mt6589_rooting_pkg.zip to a folder on
your desktop.
4. From the extracted folder, hold the Shift key on
your keyboard, right-click on run.bat , and click
on Run as administrator to start the rooting tool.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions and wait
until your device reboots.
Once your Wiko Cink Peax 2 reboots, it should be
completely rooted!

Need a little help getting through your next big
math exam? MicroBlink has an app that could
help you study more effectively -- perhaps too
effectively. Its newly unveiled PhotoMath for iOS
and Windows Phone (Android is due in early 2015)
uses your smartphone's camera to scan math
equations and not only solve them, but show the
steps involved. Officially, it's meant to save you
time flipping through a textbook to check answers
when you're doing homework or cramming for a
test. However, there's a concern that this could
trivialize learning -- just because it shows you how
to solve a problem doesn't mean that the
knowledge will actually sink in. And if teachers
don't confiscate smartphones at the door,
unscrupulous students could cheat when no one is
looking. The chances of that happening aren't very
high at this stage, but apps like this suggest that
schools might have to be vigilant in the future.

It could mean a mobile powered by your pants, and a smartwatch charged from your shirt. Researchers have discovered a
radical new way to create electricity using an atom thin generator. It produces electricity when bent or stretched, and
researchers say it could be sewn into clothing and even used in medical implants. The team from Columbia Engineering
and the Georgia Institute of Technology say the material, molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) could be used in wearable
technology. ‘This material – just a single layer of atoms – could be made as a wearable device, perhaps integrated into
clothing, to convert energy from your body movement to electricity and power wearable sensors or medical devices, or
perhaps supply enough energy to charge your cell phone in your pocket,’ said James Hone, professor of mechanical
engineering at Columbia and co-leader of the research.  In a paper published online October 15, 2014, in the journal
Nature, research groups from the two institutions demonstrate the mechanical generation of electricity from the two-
dimensional (2D) MoS2material.  The piezoelectric effect in this material had previously been predicted theoretically.
PIEZOELETRICITY
Piezoelectricity is a well-known effect in which stretching or compressing a material causes it to generate an electrical
voltage (or the reverse, in which an applied voltage causes it to expand or contract). But for materials of only a few atomic
thicknesses, no experimental observation of piezoelectricity has been made, until now. The observation provides a new
property for two-dimensional materials such as molybdenum disulfide, opening the potential for new types of
mechanically controlled electronic devices.

‘Proof of the piezoelectric effect and piezotronic effect adds new functionalities to these two-dimensional materials,’ said
Zhong Lin Wang, Regents’ Professor in Georgia Tech’s School of Materials Science and Engineering and a co-leader of the
research. The materials community is excited about molybdenum disulfide, and demonstrating the piezoelectric effect in it
adds a new facet to the material.’ The research could open the door to development of new applications for the material
and its unique properties. ‘This is the first experimental work in this area and is an elegant example of how the world
becomes different when the size of material shrinks to the scale of a single atom,’ Hone added. ‘With what we’re learning,
we’re eager to build useful devices for all kinds of applications.’
Ultimately, Zhong Lin Wang noted, the research could lead to complete atomic-thick nanosystems that are self-powered by
harvesting mechanical energy from the environment. This study also reveals the piezotronic effect in two-dimensional
materials for the first time, which greatly expands the application of layered materials for human-machine interfacing,
robotics, MEMS, and active flexible electronics.

This really sounds unbelievable but it's quite true. Charging your phone battery can be inconvenient and take awhile , but what if you could get a proper power refueling in just a few minutes? Scientists at the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore say they developed a lithium-ion battery that can go from zero to 70% power capacity in two minutes. Lithium-ion batteries are commonly used in phones and tablets. Perhaps even more importantly, the battery lasts much longer than the ones we have now, an attribute that could boost the electric car industry, developers said. The new battery is supposed to last for 10,000 cycles, a lifespan estimated at two decades and more than 10 times longer than what we're used to. In contrast, Apple says its phone batteries are designed to "retain up to 80% of its original capacity at 500 complete charge cycles." Generally, the more you recharge a battery, the more it loses its luster over time. The breakthrough here is with the battery's anode or negative pole, which traditionally works with graphite. The graphite is replaced with a newly developed gel made from an "abundant, cheap and safe" material called titanium dioxide that's found in soil. It's also an active ingredient in sunscreen . The researchers were able to morph the spherically- shaped titanium dioxide into tubular strands that are 1,000-times thinner than a human hair. The gel speeds up reactions taking place inside the new battery, propelling the hyper-fast recharging. The researchers think the battery's most important impact will be on the electric car industry . Potential adopters can be turned off by the long recharge times and shorter battery lifespans for electric vehicles. With this battery, however, recharging your car — timewise — wouldn't be so far off from filling up a tank a gas. It should take about five minutes to give you enough power to get back on the road and 15 minutes for a full charge, the researchers said in a statement . Replacement batteries for electric cars are costly , too, with some priced at more than $5,000. Another benefit is that it would cut down on waste resulting from battery disposals. When talking about "breakthroughs" for battery technology, expectations can be very high. Don't treat this as consumer reality just yet, but it's good to know that scientists are trying to make batteries more efficient. Developers expect the new batteries to hit the market in the next two years.
