The Zionist regime is seeking to coax the Nigerian government into assassination of the African country's top
Shiite leader Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky, his son revealed on Wednesday.
"Given the Zionists' strong relations with the Nigerian government, they always take action against the Shiites in Nigeria," Ali Zakzaky told FNA.
He revealed that the Zionists are pressuring the Nigerian government to assassinate Sheikh Zakzaky soon, and the government is looking for an
opportunity as it also sees the Shiite leader as a burden due to his harsh criticism of the government's atrocities against people.
"The US and the Zionists are pressuring the government to assassinate the Nigerian Shiite leader for their fear of the 12-million-strong Shiite
population in Nigeria," Ali Zakzaky said.A suicide bomber detonated himself in the Tsohuwar Kasuwa area of the Nigerian town after joining
Shiite worshippers who were marching to mark Ashura, a solemn day when Shiites mourn the martyrdom of Imam Hossein, a grandson of
Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), in 680 AD at Karbala in Iraq.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack which killed at least 20 and injured over 50, but suspicion is bound to fall on the Boko
Haram terrorist group.
Late in July peaceful rallies by Muslims in Nigeria held on the occasion of the International Quds Day turned violent as Nigerian troops killed
a number of participants in a major city in the Northern parts of the country, including the three sons of a prominent Muslim leader who is an
opponent of Boko Haram.
The troops attacked peaceful Quds Day rallies in Zaria city in the Northern Nigerian state of Kaduna on Friday, killing at least 14
demonstrators and injuring more than 20 others, the Islamic Human Rights Commission reported in a press release.
Three sons of the Leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Zakzaky, including 18-year-old Syed Mahmud Ibrahim Al-
Zakzaky, were among the 14 killed in Zaria city.
Dozens of men and women, including three other children of the sheikh, were also arrested during the rallies.
Witnesses say that the soldiers involved in the shooting came from the Military Depot at Sabon Gari Barracks.
Al-Zakzaky has frequently been imprisoned under the various Nigerian juntas and is a fierce critic of political corruption, as well as the so-called
Boko Haram movement.
Three truckloads of armed soldiers opened fire at the participants of the rally.
A large number of Nigerians, including members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, came out on the International Quds Day to protest in
solidarity with the Palestinians.
The long procession went through streets of the city of Zaria carrying pictures of the massacre in Gaza.
Many have condemned the continuous bombardment of the people of Gaza by the Israeli military resulting in the killing of over 900 civilians,
mostly women and children.
The protesters burnt the American and Israeli flags to condemn the occupation of Palestine and the continuous killing of the Palestinians.
Zaria is the second major city in Kaduna State, and near the state capital, Kaduna, where twin bomb blasts killed scores of people earlier this
week.
Then further to the shootings and killing of pro-Palestinian protesters at Al-Quds Day march in Zaria, and the subsequent killings in custody of
protestors, the army raided the Hussainiyyah Baqiyyatullah Islamic Centre affiliated to the Islamic Movement a day later on July 26 and
opened fire killing 3, and injuring 7.
The center where some of the injured from Friday’s massacre (photos are available here) were sheltering, as well as where some of released bodies
of those killed were being prepared for burial.
This added to the Quds Day’s death toll. Whilst the reports from the Quds Day massacre indicated that the troops involved were from the Sabon
Gari barracks, those in charge there are claiming that the troops involved were in fact sent from Abuja and were not commanded from the locale.
The Islamic Movement in Nigeria is not an armed movement. It has organized peaceful pro-Palestinian demonstrations on annual basis for over
33 years across Nigeria and particularly in the state of Kaduna.
IHRC Chair, Massoud Shadjareh said, “The Goodluck - Netanyahu co-operation is resulting in massacres beyond Gaza’s borders. The blood of
these young men and women killed in Nigeria is equally on the hands of both men and regimes.”
Demonstrations and vigils protesting recent events in Nigeria are planned in various cities world-wide.

A Missouri mother will spend 78 years in prison
for waterboarding her three children, and for
torturing them in several other ways. The St.
Louis Post-Dispatch reported that the woman, 34-
year-old Lakechia Stanley was sentenced on
Friday over 30 charges related to child abuse.

The crimes first came to light in
October 2011 when Stanley’s 10-year-
old daughter told her school
librarian that her arm was sore. The
girl said her mother had beaten her
with a baseball bat for not cleaning
the kitchen quickly enough. The
child also said her 8-year-old sister
had been beaten with a bat for
taking too long in the shower.
The child was taken to a hospital,
where doctors said her arm had been
beaten so badly that the blood
supply was restricted, making her
arm cold and hard to the touch.
Prosecutors described Stanley’s actions
as “systematic torture.”

Former Governor of Old Anambra State, Senator
Jim Nwobodo, yesterday narrated how his son,
Dr. Ifeanyichukwu Nwobodo jnr died following
the alleged negligence of a doctor.
Nwobodo said his son was treated at the
Anderson Medical Cancer Centre in Houston,
Texas, United States but rather than stay longer
in the U.S. returned to Nigeria because he was
feeling homesick.
The former governor said his son developed pains
in the legs and was taken to a consultant
oncologist at the University of Nigeria Teaching
Hospital (UNTH), Enugu.
However, rather than take his son to the UNTH,
which had facilities for emergency, the medical
consultant referred him to his private clinic.
According to Nwobodo, the injection
administered on his son led to complications
and finally resulted in his death.
The bereaved father made this startling
revelation yesterday when Governor of Abia State,
Mr. Theodore Orji paid him a condolence visit in
Enugu.
Nwobodo said the doctor tried to rush his son to
Niger Foundation Hospital, but he died on the
way.
He said: “My son was ill for five months before I
knew about it and we were planning to go to
India before we took him to the U.S. He was given
a visa for two years because the cancer was at
stage four, but they treated him.
“When he came back, his leg started to swell
and he thought he should see a doctor and I
advised him to see the best oncologist. It took us
three weeks to see the doctor.
“Ön Friday – I was speaking with him three
times a day – and he was to see the doctor by
5pm and between 5:30 and 6pm, I called him
and he said he was with the doctor, I requested
to speak with the doctor but he said he was busy
but instead of the doctor taking him to UNTH,
he took him to his private clinic, where he had
no equipment, no facility at all. I called him
again and when I didn’t hear from him I sent
him text and I asked the doctor to tell me why he
gave my son injection that made him
unconscious, he said he was sorry and that he
was trying to resuscitate him.
“I spoke with him by 6:30pm and by 7 pm he
was dead.
“It is painful because this is something that
would have been averted and I can’t understand
why a dean of Department of Medicine should
leave the hospital where he has all the
equipment to go to his private clinic and I believe
that is how some other people die”.

A suspected male suicide bomber who was
allegedly dressed with a bomb hidden under
his cloth was apprehended and burnt alive some
few minutes after 1pm this afternoon at the
Gombe Line Park in Gombe state. Residents of the
area said the man was preparing to blow
himself up when he was spotted. The mob
refused to hand him over to the police and
immediately set him on fire.

A suspected car snatcher, Alhaji Kabiru Akorede, who
was arrested by the Lagos State Police Command,
has said he could not count the number of stolen
vehicles he sold to people.
PUNCH Metro learnt that 42-year-old Akorede, who
hails from Ilorin, Kwara State, was nabbed by
operatives of the special Anti-Robbery Squad in his
residence at NEPA Quarters, Isashi, Lagos.
Our correspondent gathered that Akorede allegedly
belonged to an eight-man robbery gang, who had
gone to the Victoria Island area on September 12, 2014
and robbed one Mr. Albert Omisore of his Toyota
Prado marked, AAA 690 BH.
The vehicle had reportedly been delivered to Moses
Ogbu, a gang member, who in turn, gave it to
Akorede for sale.
According to the police, Akorede allegedly re-fixed the
fittings of the vehicle such as the headlights and
windscreens.
However, after the gang had been nabbed, Akorede
was trailed by SARS operatives. He was subsequently
arrested, while the stolen vehicle was recovered.
According to the police, Akorede had been arrested
earlier in the year and was still standing trial before
an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court when he went back into
crime. The police added that Akorede was arrested at
the point of re-fixing the fittings of a stolen vehicle.
Speaking with PUNCH Metro last Friday, Akorede,
who said he went on a pilgrimage to Mecca in 2010,
confessed that although he started selling stolen
vehicles barely a year ago, he could not recall the
number of the vehicles he had sold.
He said, “I was working as a building engineer until
2013. I started receiving stolen cars last year. It was a
friend, one Dada, who introduced me to the gang.
Since I started with them, I used to sell the stolen
vehicles along the Ile Zik area in Lagos.
“I cannot recall the number of the vehicles I collected,
but they may not be less than 20. There were about
three Toyota Highlander which I sold for N1.2m
each. I also got four Toyota Camry, which I sold for
N600,000 each.”
Akorede, who is married with two children, said that
while the court granted him bail, Ogbu called him
that the gang wanted to dispose a Toyota Prado,
and the vehicle was brought to his place.
He said, “I decided to work on the vehicle so that I
could conveniently resell it. It is true that I changed
the fittings. I gave Moses N250,000 for the vehicle. I
did this because I desperately needed money.”
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP
Kenneth Nwosu, confirmed the arrest, adding that
the suspect would be charged to court.
He said, “Yes, the suspect was arrested for receiving
stolen vehicles. Investigations are ongoing and he
would be charged to court soon.”

There was confusion in Onitsha on Monday
following the alleged killing of one Mr Felix
Nwoke by policemen believed to have come
from Ogbaru police station .
But for the intervention of union officials led
by Dr Jim Okonkwo , chairman Board of
Trustees , Motorcycle Transport Union of Nigeria
( MTUN/OWAN ), members of the union would
have taken laws into their hands and burn
down the police station and security buses at
the scene .
Late Nwoke, Daily Independent gathered, was
an executive member of MTUN/ OWAN and
was fighting the rights of his members when
he was allegedly shot by the police .
Members of the MTUN/ AOWAN accused the
police of killing their member for unjustified
reasons .
Anambra State Police Public Relations officer ,
Mr James Ezeh , confirmed the incident and
said that investigations are ongoing to
unravel what led to the death of Nwoke .
Ezeh could not confirm that the police had a
hand in the death.
He promised to ensure that those involved in
the killing will be arrested after a
comprehensive investigation.
Okonkwo accused the security operatives ,
especially the police , of killing one of the
executive members of his union who did not
commit any offence.
He explained , “ I had a phone call that some
policemen in Anambra State are battling our
union members, molesting and extorting
money from them.
“ They collect N 30, 000 to bail any of our
members whenever they are arrested . The thing
became heavily embarrassing to our union.
We wrote to the Commissioner of Police about
this ongoing crime against our union
members .
“ After some weeks again, I had another call
now that one of our executive members, Mr Felix
Nwoke was shot dead at Okpoko in Onitsha
by some policemen and those who call
themselves security task force . When the
incident happened, the police men ran away
with their vehicle while the task force boys they
came with abandoned their bus and ran
away .
“ Some members of the crowd wanted to take
laws into their hands and burn the vehicles
including the police station, but I called on
them not to take laws into their hands as the
Union will make sure that the culprit will be
brought to book” , he said.

Toyota has announced it will begin selling fuel cell
cars next month, taking a first small step into the
unproven market for emissions-free, hydrogen-
powered vehicles.
The sporty-looking, four-door Toyota Mirai – that
runs on compressed hydrogen gas without emitting
exhaust – will be available in Japan on December 15
and in the US and Europe in mid-2015, the world’s
largest automaker said on Tuesday.
Mitsuhisa Kato, a Toyota executive vice president,
said Mirai will retail for about $57,600 before taxes.
Besides the relatively high cost, buyers will have to
contend with finding fuel. Only a few dozen
hydrogen filling stations have been built worldwide,
though governments are subsidising the construction
of more.
In Japan, with about 30 stations, that means the
regions around Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya cities in
central and western Japan and the northern part of
Kyushu island in the south.
A few stations have opened in California in the
United States, and there are plans to build some in
the Northeast. Germany and the United Kingdom
are among European countries that have or plan to
build them.
Toyota Motor Corp hopes to sell 400 in Japan and 300
in the rest of the world in the first year.
The company has about 200 pre-orders for the vehicle,
mainly government agencies and companies that
want to go green, the company said. Over time, Kato
said, Toyota hopes to help build a “hydrogen
society”.
Mirai, which means future in Japanese, can travel
650 to 700 kilometres on its two tanks of hydrogen.
Hydrogen may be more expensive than gas initially,
because there are so few customers but, over time,
Toyota expects it will be cheaper to run a car on
hydrogen than with gas.
Yoshikazu Tanaka, deputy chief engineer for Toyota’s
next generation vehicle development, said he expects it
will take 10-20 years for the Mirai to reach sales in
the tens of thousands of vehicles a year.
Asked if it is a risk, he said yes, but that Toyota
views it as a challenge.
Both Honda and Hyundai are also experimenting
with limited sales and leases of fuel cell cars. Honda
showed a fuel cell concept car on Monday.

The Adamawa state government has opted to train
and enlist the services of 10,000 local hunters,
vigilantes and civilian JTF in liberating towns
captured by the Boko Haram insurgents .
The government has agreed to train the local hunters
to change their perception , so that they would execute
their duties according to the rule of engagement.
As part of efforts to fortify the trouble areas in the
state against the onslaught of the Islamist
extremists, the government has agreed to deploy the
services of the local hunters.
The state governor, Mr Bala James Ngilari , on
Monday made the disclosure through his
spokesman, Mr PP Elisha, shortly after an emergency
meeting with security chiefs in the state.
Elisha  declared that at least 10,000 hunters will be
enlisted in the scheme as members of the local
vigilante known as the Civilian JTF, to fortify the
towns and aid the security forces in dislodging the
Islamist sect, Boko Haram.
He tatted that the group would be called ‘’Civilian
JTF ‘’ and saddled with the responsibility to assist
law enforcement agencies in their job of providing
security to the society.
"That is why they sometimes join the military at the
check points,” he explained. “This does not give them
a licence to take laws into their hands by harassing
or arresting innocent members of the society.’

emerged the first Nigerian operator to officially sell

Italy's European Championship qualifier with
Croatia at the San Siro was suspended after 75
minutes as Croatia fans threw flares and fireworks
on to the San Siro pitch, leaving the stadium covered
with smoke.
The referee marched the players down the tunnel
with the score at 1-1 as the smoke continued to grow
and riot police attempted to restrain the Croatian
supporters. UEFA are expected to launch an
investigation into the incidents at the San Siro in the
coming days.
The players were off the field for 10 minutes before
they returned to the pitch after emergency services
extinguished and removed the flares. It was the
second time in the match they had used flares, with
some being thrown on during the first half as well -
with the match interrupted for three minutes after
Croatia scored.

Antonio Candreva had opened the scoring for Italy
before Ivan Perisic equalised just four minutes later.
The match eventually finished 1-1.
Speaking on ITV4, former Croatia boss Slaven Bilic
said: 'It's (crowd trouble and flares being thrown) a
big problem, not only in Croatia but definitely
there.'
Croatia and Italy are now level on 10 points at the
top of 2016 European Championship qualifier Group
H, with Norway just one behind.
The game itself was a pacey first-half which only
slowed with the interruptions for the flares.
Italy were ahead after only 11 minutes when
Candreva picked up the ball on the edge of the box
and fired a low shot into the bottom left-hand corner
of the net.
But Croatia responded just four minutes later.
It was a blunder which led to the equaliser, as
veteran goalkeeper Gianliugi Buffon let Perisic's shot
go under his gloves and into the back of the net.
Unfortunately for Croatia, their play slowed once
Luka Modric was taken off after 28 minutes with an
injury.
The visitors were impressive, however, and enjoyed the
bulk of possession at the San Siro on Sunday night.
Southampton's Graziano Pelle came on to make
another appearance for Italy but he was unable to
find a winner for the home side.
This match will unfortunately be remembered for the
ugly scenes caused by the visiting supporters,

Parts of Kano City and environs are experiencing
power rationing resulting from the loss of a 150MVA,
330/132/33kV power transformer and control cables
attached to two other 150MVA power transformers in
the Transmission Substation, Kumbotso in Kano Sate.
A statement by Transmission Company of Nigeria
(TCN) Management, signed by the General Manager
Public Affairs, Seun Olagunju said one of the four
150MVA power transformers in the substation caught
fire after an explosive sound was heard at the
switchyard.
The fire, which destroyed one out of the four 150MVA
power transformers in the substation was eventually
put off by the Kano state fire service.
The statement further said "during the fire, oil from
the burnt 150MVA transformer, spilled into the cable
trench connecting two other transformers in the
substation, causing the burning of the cables.
"The fire however did not affect the transformers
themselves. The fourth 150MVA power transformer in
the substation, was not affected in any way by the
fire and has since been restored by TCN's engineers".
TCN explained that "it is presently sourcing
materials from its stores for the replacement of the
burnt control cables to the two healthy 150MVA power
transformers that were not affected by the fire, so that
it can quickly restore transmission of electricity
through them.
"Investigations are also ongoing by the company's
engineers to determine the extent of damage to the
burnt 150MVA power transformer, so that plans can
be put in place for its immediate repair".
With the completion of the cable repair works, TCN
said that the capability of the 510MW substation
would have reduced to 383MW, which is still far in
excess of the peak load demand of 250MW ever
recorded in the area.
This means that normal power supply would be
restored as soon as the two healthy power
transformers are energised, the company added.

The students of University of Lagos and Federal
College of Education, Akoka, Lagos have continued
to commend MTN for the unprecedented experience
they are getting through the ongoing Season of
Surprise Campaign initiated by the company.
This was when one of the most sought-after Nigerian
musicians and MTN ambassador, Tiwa Sawage
paid surprise visits to the two campuses on Tuesday,
November 11.The notable singer who arrived at the
schools unannounced was given a rousing reception
by the students. The students who came out in their
thousands to have a glimpse of their favourite
musical icon as well as take pictures with her were so
elated to have her in their midst.
One of the students, Ugwu Joseph Chinonso, a year-
three student of Mathematics, University of Lagos

for the surprise gesture.
“I am so excited; this is awesome and absolutely
unexpected. Apart from the opportunity to meet Tiwa
Sawage who happens to be one of my favourite
musicians, I am also receiving a surprise gift from
her. In fact MTN has not only surprised me, they
have done it beyond my imagination!” he said.
In the same vein, Shodeinde Zainat Afolashade, a
student of Agriculture, Federal College of Education,
Akoka, Lagos, was shocked beyond words when she
was handed a brand new iPhone 6 by the musical
act. “This is great!” she exclaimed. “I am short of
words, I have been dreaming of having an iPhone
and I am getting it in a very unpredictable manner.
MTN should keep up the surprises, the season should
continue,” she enthused.
Meanwhile, the musician who took time to visit the
students in their hostels on the two campuses,
encouraged them to face what they came to the
institutions to do and also thanked them for the
support they are giving the Nigerian music. “My
friends, please always remember what you are here
for, face your studies and keep your dream alive. I
appreciate all of you for believing in us and also in
Nigerian music,” She said.

Set in 1,000 acres of lush grassland, the sprawling
campus of the American University of Nigeria
represents everything that the Islamist militants of
Boko Haram oppose. Since opening a decade ago, its
stated aim for its 1,400 students is to provide a US-
standard education for “Nigeria’s and Africa’s future
leaders” – be they Christian or Muslim, male or
female.
Yet among the university’s new autumn intake, one
group of students knows all too well the ruthlessness
with which Boko Haram enforces its mantra that
“Western education is sinful”. The shy, quiet girls on
the university’s new “Chibok Scholarship” are from a
group of 58 who escaped during Boko Haram’s mass
schoolgirl abduction in April, when some 276 female
pupils were snatched from the Chibok Boarding
School.
Since September, the university has enrolled 21 of the
escapees as full-time students for free – in a bold bid
to continue the education that their kidnappers
sought to deny them.
“I feel very excited to have a chance to be part of this
university and to continue my education,” said
Anna, 19, one of the scholarship girls, in an
interview by telephone with The Sunday Telegraph
last week. “I am studying science now and I hope to
become a doctor after graduating.”
Indeed, had Anna remained in Chibok, she might
be contemplating a very different future right now.
For only last Thursday, Boko Haram militants
attacked the town yet again, sending its residents
fleeing into the bush once more and reviving
memories of that dreadful night when so many of
their daughters went missing.
Anna, who asked to be identified by a pseudonym,
is still reluctant to talk about the abduction itself,
during which a number of girls managed to leap
from the trucks that spirited them away. However,
she is well aware how close she came to appearing in
the chilling “class photo” that emerged a month
later, when Boko Haram released video images of her
classmates lined up under a tree at a secret location
in the Nigerian bush.
Since those images were broadcast around the world,
nothing more has been heard from them, and despite
numerous claims of ceasefires and prisoner swaps,
many believe the militants intend to keep them as
bush wives.
“We pray for our friends every day and we hope they
will go back home soon,” she said. “But for myself, I
try to forge ahead and forget about the past.”
In recent weeks, though, forgetting about the threat
from Boko Haram has become rather less easy. The
scholarship girls’ new campus home, which was
founded by Atiku Abubakar, a US-educated former
vice-president, lies on the outskirts of Yola, a city of
300,000 near Nigeria’s mountainous eastern border
with Cameroun. The capital of Adamawa State, it
has so far been spared Boko Haram’s violence, which
has been at its worst in towns like Chibok, some 200
miles further north in neighbouring Borno State.
But over the last two months, Yola’s population has
nearly doubled overnight as hundreds of thousands
of people have fled a major push by Boko Haram
into northern Adamawa. In early November, the
group seized Mubi, a city of 100,000 that is just 100
miles north of Yola, burning down churches,
declaring Sharia law and renaming it as
Madinatul Islam, or “City of Islam” in Arabic.
Such is the influx of people fleeing into Yola that even
the city’s main Catholic Cathedral has become a
temporary shelter. Those camped in its precincts talk
of how Boko Haram gunmen rooted out Christians
from Mubi by asking them to recite parts of the
Koran. Anyone who could not was ordered to flee on
pain of death.
“The Boko Haram guys came into Mubi on
motorbikes and started shooting everywhere,
chanting Allah Akhbar and saying they were here
to impose Sharia,” said Malachy Tizhe, a 53-year-old
college lecturer who is now a refugee in Yola. “They
targeted only the Christians and the Christian shops.
As a man of God, I tell you, it was completely
terrifying.”
For Boko Haram, the latest incursion is just another
bid to expand its empire, which now extends across a
vast swathe of north-east Nigeria that also includes
the city of Bama, north of Chibok, which fell in early
September. The militants now hold sway over an
estimated two million people, and continue to spread
terror elsewhere. Last week, a suicide bomber
disguised in school uniform killed 48 students at a
school in Potiskum on the western edge of their
fiefdom.
The push into Adamawa has gone largely
unreported outside Nigeria, even though its anti-
Christian element has close parallels with Isil’s
campaigns in northern Iraq. It has, however, been
viewed with alarm by Western diplomats, who say it
shows the Nigerian army is still unable to contain
Boko Haram, and that if anything, things are now
worse than they were six months ago, when the
kidnapping of the girls first brought the insurgency
to world attention.
“The overall picture is negative, and it is fair to say
that the Nigerian army has not done particularly
well,” said one Western diplomat.
During the fall of Mubi, for example, there were
widespread reports of soldiers ditching their uniforms
and fleeing. In a sign of their growing confidence,
the insurgents also recently stormed the nearby town
of Vimtim, home to none other than the chief of
Nigeria’s defence staff, Alex Badeh, where they made
a point of ransacking his palatial mansion. It was
seen as a deliberate snub to his widely-reported
claim two weeks before that a ceasefire deal had
been reached.

Worried by the increasing cases of rape of old women and girls by herdsmen in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State,
aggrieved women, most of them victims from Irete community, yesterday blocked the Owerri/Onitsha express way to protest the
alleged indifference of the authorities to the plight of the women.
The angry women called on the state government and security agencies to take immediate action that would put an end to the
unwholesome practice. The spokesperson of the women, Lady Gloria Chukwumezie, noted that they were compelled to embark on the
protest to register their anger and to seek an end to the dehumanizing act.
She stated that several women from the community had been raped, manhandled and beaten up by the herdsmen while working in
their farms, adding that a similar incident occurred few days ago when some women who went to their farmlands were severely
raped by the same people.
The protest, which started early in the morning, lasted for hours, resulted in heavy traffic gridlock. It took the efforts of armed
policemen from the state police command disperse the women.
The chairman of the transition committee of the local government area, Albert Okenwa, blamed the women for carrying out the
protest against his instruction, stating that he had appealed to them not to embark on the protest. When contacted, the Police Public
Relation Officer of the command, Mr. Andrew Enwerem, who confirmed the presence of armed policemen at the scene, said the
policemen were drafted to stop the women from taking the laws into their hands.

KANO, Nigeria (AFP) - Six people were killed, including three police, in a suicide bomb attack at a petrol station in northern
Nigeria's biggest city Kano, police said, blaming Boko Haram militants.
The blast happened at about 7.30pm at the Nagarshiku filling station in the Hotoro area of Kano, causing a fire that
engulfed the facility and set cars ablaze.
The petrol station is opposite the scene of a July 28 suicide attack by a female bomber and is used as a base by a military
unit that patrols the area, indicating troops may have been the target.
The soldiers park their patrol vans inside the Nagarshiku petrol station at night, from where they coordinate their operations,
local residents said.

Boko Haram militants have seized the north-
eastern Nigerian town of Chibok, the home of
more than 200 schoolgirls the insurgents
kidnapped in April, residents who fled have told
the BBC.
Militants attacked and took control of the town, in
Borno state, on Thursday evening, residents said.
The militants have repeatedly targeted villages
around Chibok over recent months.
Boko Haram says it is fighting to create an Islamic
state in Nigeria.
A senator for Borno state, Ali Ndume, told the BBC
Hausa service that security forces posted in the town
ran away when the insurgents attacked.
Residents told the Sahara Reporters news website that
the militants headed to the centre of Chibok and
declared that they were taking it over as part of their
caliphate.

Justin Bieber may be an international superstar but
seems he also has a knack at finding himself in hot
water with the law across the globe too.
On Thursday, an Argentine judge ordered that the
20-year-old return to Buenos Aires to face questions
over an alleged attack on a photographer by the
star's bodyguards last year.
And if Justin does not return, he could be arrested
and extradited.

Judge Facundo Cubas asked Interpol on Thursday to
use all 'necessary means' to notify the singer that he
has 60 days to appear before the court in Argentina.
The judge said that if he does not comply, an
international arrest order will be issued.
The order steams form an alleged assault on
November 9 last year when nightclub photographer
Diego Pesoa claims the star set his bodyguards on
him.

In a video of the incident, Diego can be seen filming
as girls from inside the Ink club hop into Justin's
vehicle and then the singer is walked out by his
bodyguards but covered by a sheet.
The video one website the Farandula Show , then
shows one bodyguard becoming enraged and
charging at the photographer and pushing him.
Diego is then seeing running away and the
bodyguard gives chase with the rest of the security
following behind.
When the guard catches up with him, the
photographer is seen on the ground as security
appears to intervene and pull the guard off him.
Diego claims he was set on by numerous guards at
the pop star's request, and this is what the judge
wants to question Justin about.
At the time Diego said: 'I was waiting for Justin
Bieber to leave so I could take a picture of him when
a bodyguard tried to take my camera off me.
'He began to run after me and half a block away he
punched me in the head before kicking me in the
stomach as I was lying on the ground.
'When I tried to get away, I realised that instead of
just one there were seven or eight bodyguards behind
me.
'I've got cuts all the way up my arm and bruises on
my stomach and my head hurts.'
In addition to the alleged incident, the Baby signer's
trip to Argentina was a bit of a disaster with the star
having to stop mid-concert after getting food
poisoning.
Justin was also asked to leave his hotel due to fans
inundating the establishment.
Justin is currently on probation after pleading no
contest in July for vandalism after he was caught on
video throwing eggs at his Calabasas neighbour's
home in January.
He has to pay $80,900 in damages, serve two years'
probation, complete twelve weeks of anger
management and do five days of community service

A governorship aspirant of the People’s Democratic
Party in Plateau State, Senator Cosmas Niagwan,
is dead.
It was gathered that Niagwan died in
his sleep in Lagos.
News of the ex-lawmaker’s death, who was 75,
filtered into Jos in the early hours of Thursday.
Niagwan, who represented Plateau South
senatorial zone in the 5th Assembly, was said to
have travelled to Lagos from his Jos home to
transact some business when he met his untimely
death.
He had indicated interest to vie for the governorship
of Plateau State, but had not obtained the
nomination form before he passed on.
His former legislative aide, Mr. Gabriel Nkup, who
confirmed his death, said Niagwan died in his
house in Lagos on Wednesday night.
He said, “I spoke with his wife and she said that
he did not show any sign of sickness, but went to
bed and failed to wake up.
“I spoke with him last Friday and he told me he
was in house in Jos and I told him I would be
coming to see him before he travelled to Lagos.”
Niagwan, a marine captain, liquidated the former
Nigerian National Shipping Line, and was former
chairman of the Nigerian Maritime Academy,
Oron, in Akwa Ibom State.

The United States has said that it refused to sell its
Cobra helicopters to Nigeria due to concerns about
the Nigeria’s military ability to use and maintain
them.
The cobra attack helicopter is a combat aircraft used
by the US marines with the ability to climb at the
rate of 8.2meters per second. It is equipped with a 20
mm M197 3-barreled Gatling cannon in the A/
A49E-7 turret (750 rounds ammo capacity).
But America stated that it had provided and
approved sales of military equipment to Nigerian
armed forces.
The US State Department spokeswoman, Jen Psaki,
stated this in Washington on Wednesday while
responding to questions from journalists on the
allegations made by the Nigerian ambassador to
US, Prof. Adebowale Adefuye.
Adefuye had told members of the Council on Foreign
Relations on Monday that the US refused to sell
lethal arms to Nigeria, adding that America was
not doing enough to assist in combating the Boko
Haram insurgency in North-Eastern part of the
country.
The ambassador said the US was letting down an
old ally in its hour of need, and that Nigerians and
the FG feel abandoned.
He said, “The U.S. government has up till today
refused to grant Nigeria’s request to purchase lethal
equipment that would have brought down the
terrorists within a short time on the basis of the
allegations that Nigeria’s defence forces have been
violating human rights of Boko Haram suspects
when captured or arrested.”
“We find it difficult to understand how and why, in
spite of the U.S. presence in Nigeria, with their
sophisticated military technology, Boko Haram
should be expanding and becoming more deadly.”
Adefuye said that Washington had refused Nigeria’s
requests to buy heavy weaponry because of
allegations the defense forces have violated the
human rights of Boko Haram suspects.
He said allegations of human rights abuses by the
military were “rumors, hearsays and exaggerated
accounts put about by rivals of President Goodluck
Jonathan and rights groups.”
But Psaki in reaction to Adefuye’s allegations,
claimed there had been “a great deal” of US aid to
Nigeria.
She said there were ongoing concerns about the
Nigerian military’s protection of civilians when
conducting military operations, adding that these
had been discussed with the Nigerian authorities.

The police in Anambra State are
interrogating a man to ascertain the circumstances
surrounding the sudden death of a seven-month
pregnant woman during a marathon sex bout with
him in Onitsha.
The man (names withheld), according to a police
source, had allegedly taken the deceased to an
undisclosed hotel in Onitsha, only for the hotel staff to
discover that the woman was dead in the morning.
The incident, the source said, occurred on Tuesday when
the man allegedly checked into the hotel with the
heavily pregnant woman, only to find out in the
morning that his partner could not wake up on
Wednesday morning.
A resident’s account
Though the police in Onitsha Area Command refused to
give details on the incident, a resident of the area said
the suspect and the deceased were just love birds.
He said the suspect had lodged into the hotel room and
invited the deceased through a phone call.
The source further faulted rumours that the woman
died as a result of charms made by her husband,
adding that it was possible that the woman died of
exhaustion from the marathon sex romp.
He urged the police to conduct a thorough investigation
into the matter.
At press time, nobody from the suspect or deceased’s
family had been identified, as the corpse was deposited
in an undisclosed mortuary in Onitsha by the police.
At the Inland Town Police Division, Onitsha, the
Divisional Police Officer, Mr. Cosmas Eze, refused to
comment on the incident but referred Vanguard to the
Area Commander, ACP Benjamin Wordu, for
clarifications.
Confirming the incident, the Anambra State Police
Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Uche Ezeh, said the
command received the information concerning the
incident, disclosing that the suspect had been arrested
and case transferred to the State Criminal Investigations
Department, SCID, Awka, for further investigations.

Nigerians and particularly those in the oil industry dominated the latest list of African
billionaires, which put sugar, oil and banking magnate Aliko Dangote streets ahead of
the competition.
The list of the continent’s 55 richest people, compiled by Ventures Africa magazine, also put
Nigerian oil tycoon Folorunsho Alakija as the world’s richest black woman, overtaking US
television show host and author Oprah Winfrey.

billion, while compatriot Cletus Ibeto’s interest in exploiting the country’s gas supplies is partly

Isabel dos Santos, daughter of Angola’s president and said to have a stake in state oil giant
Sonangol, came in at 13 with $3.5 billion, while Mohammed Mansour made 15 with $3
billion.
Nigerian oil player Benedict Peters, who heads Aiteo Group, made it to 17 with $2.7 billion, 10
spots ahead of compatriot and Sapetro boss Theophilus Danjuma on $1.8 billion.
Igho Sanomi, who heads Nigeria’s energy, power and construction company Taleveras Group, made number 38 on $1.3 billion,

Unknown gunmen
Thursday abducted
the son of former Bauchi State People’s
Democractic Party Chairman (PDP ) Garba
Noma.
It was learnt that the son of the former
Chairman Sanusi Garba Noma was abducted
at early hours of Thursday in front of his
fathers residence in Bauchi Metropolisis .
The Bauchi state police command who
confirmed the incident through its Public
Relation officer DSP Haruna Mohammed said
” at the early hours of today 13/ 11/2014 , Son
of former PDP state chairman Jarman
Bauchi ,one Sanusi Garba Noma male was
Abducted by yet to be identified persons .
” The 33 years old Sanusi was standing
outside his father’s house near Tipper garage
Bauchi when he was taken to unknown
destination .
He said the police has visited the Scene of the
incident assuring that Police Special Anti
robbery squad are trailing the abductors
adding that” Efforts are seriously geared
towards locating the victim and apprehend
the culprits ”.
In a related development, DSP Haruna
Mohammed said the chief officer at Ministry
of Agriculture Bauchi , Iliyasu Yakubu , male
and 44 years who was abducted by two
unknown persons on the 12/ 11/2014 at 4 pm
was found and he is in a stable condition .

Another attempted attack on Thursday at Maryam
Babangida Girls Science College, Minna, by two
unidentified men was foiled by a teacher in the
school.
The female teacher was
rushing to the school through a foot path early in
the morning when she was inhaled the smell of
Indian Hemp and stopped to look around.
She reportedly sighted two men that had already
changed into the school uniform and were about to
put on the Hijab.
The strange men were said to have asked her to turn
back, if she wanted to remain alive.
It was gathered that the teacher she took to her heels,
but rather than running home, she went through the
main gate to alert the school that had already
gathered on the assembly.
When the students got wind of the information, there
was confusion in the school as the students fled in
different directions out of panic.
The school authorities, our correspondent learnt,
alerted the police, military and men of the State
Security Services, whose quick arrival helped to calm
the students down.
Speaking with newsmen in her office, the Principal of
the School, Hajiya Fatima Madugu, said the
information given by one of the teachers at 7:30am
saved the school from being attacked.

The Nigerian Police
have said an agent
of the All Progressives Congress in the June 21
governorship election in Ekiti State, Mr. Peter
Alabi , was involved snatching of ballot box
during the poll in Ayedun Ekiti, Ikole Local
Government Area of the state .
They said Alabi escaped arrest but that the
election of the unit where the incident
happened was cancelled by the Independent
National Electoral Commission.
The police who stated this in their report
tendered before the Governorship Election
Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja on
Thursday , added that the incident was the
only electoral offence recorded throughout the
state during the election .
The Justice Mohammed Siraju- led tribunal
admitted the police report as exhibit.
This came as all parties in the petition
challenging the victory of Governor Ayodele
Fayose of the Peoples Democratic Party in the
election , brought their cases to a close on
Thursday .
The police said in their report that the APC
agent who snatched the ballot box had done
so under the pretext of trying to cast his vote .
The report reads in part, “Result of Unit 6
Odogo under Ward 9 in Ikole Local
Government Area was cancelled due to the
snatching of the ballot box by one peter Alabi
of Odo Ayedun Ekiti an APC agent who
pretended to cast his vote and ran into the
bush with the ballot box . When pursued by
the security agents , he tore the ballot papers
there in and escaped .
“ INEC subsequently cancelled the unit result .”
The police , represented by Chief Olusola Oke ,
said in their report that the snatching of the
ballot box was the only electoral offence
recorded during the election in the state.
“ Where we experienced snatching of ballot box
and tearing of ballot papers in which suspect
mentioned is presently at large ,” the police
report signed by the Commissioner of Police
( Election ), Ekiti state Command, Ikechukwu A .
Aduba , read in part .
The matter was then adjourned till December
17 for parties to adopt their final written
addresses in the petition which was filed by
the All Progressives Congress.
The APC fielded former governor of Ekiti State ,
Dr. Kayode Fayemi , in the election .
The petitioner alleged excessive militarisation
of the election in a manner that jeopardised
its chances at the poll and the ineligibility of
Fayose to contest in the election on that he
had been impeached as governor in 2006.
The party also challenged the eligibility of
Fayose to contest in the election stating
that he was undergoing criminal prosecution
by the Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission.
But Fayose , represented by Yusuf Ali (SAN),
had in his defence told the tribunal that the
panel set up to investigate him as governor in
2006 cleared him and his purported
impeachment by the state House of Assembly
went to illegally remove him .
Apart from Fayose and the PDP , other
respondents in the petition are Chief of Army
Staff and INEC .

The former General Superintendent, Assemblies of God
Church, Rev. Paul Emeka, has been detained by the
Police for certificate forgery and for parading himself
as a professor of Theology.
Emeka who was interrogated by the Force Criminal
Investigation Department,Abuja, on Wednesday,
may be arraigned in court on Friday. If convicted, he
may be jailed for between 10 and 21 years.
The cleric was recently sacked as the leader of the
AGC, and was also ex-communicated from the
ministry for allegedly dragging the name of the
church in the mud by instituting legal suits and
using law enforcement agencies to witch-hunt some
of their leaders.
Our correspondent gathered that Emeka’s ordeal
began when he was picked up by the IG Monitoring
Team based on complaints from the National
University Commission, which confirmed that his
professorship certificate was fake.
It was learnt that Emeka confessed to Police
interrogators that he purchased the professorship
certificate from one Prof. Okoro, who was deported
from the United States to Nigeria.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Emmanuel
Ojukwu, confirmed the detention of the cleric and his
planned arraignment in court for certificate forgery.
He said, “I am aware that Rev. Emeka is with us and
he was interrogated on Wednesday by detectives for
parading himself as a professor. He may be
arraigned in court on Friday.”

A 4-year old kid from the Californian metropolis,
who must remain anonymous, was arrested this
morning for breaking into the internal network of
the FBI on three different occasions, allegedly to
gather information about his mother’s new
boyfriend.
Bypassing all firewalls and security systems in a
matter of minutes, the young boy would have been
able to access the databases of the FBI, the CIA and
of various police departments to verify the identity
and official records of his new stepfather.
Bill L. Lewis, the assistant director in charge of the
FBI’s Los Angeles Division, announced that the
accused’s young age would certainly have to be
taken into account, but that “considering the
gravity of the crimes he committed” and the
“consequences that his actions could have on the
credibility the federal authorities”, the charges had
to be serious.
It is still unclear where the boy learned to use a
computer, as he lives alone with his mother, who is
an uneducated hairdresser possessing very little
computer skills.
In fact, there wasn’t any computer in the house
until last Christmas, when the mother’s ex-
boyfriend gave her a laptop.
FBI agents are still analyzing all the data that
they can muster on the PC and by interrogating the
boy, to try to understand how he gathered the
necessary knowledge over such a short period of
time.
According to experts, this surprising event certainly
exposes a major breach in the security of the federal
organization, showing the vulnerability of its
system to malicious intrusions.
If a 4-year old self-educated amateur can h**k the

A Makurdi Magistrates’ Court on Friday ordered the
remand of a 20-year-old man, Tersoo Ugoo, who
allegedly raped a 20-year- old mentally deranged
woman.
The prosecutor, Insp. Terzungwe Kajo, told the court
that Ugoo committed the offence in October at
Abough Village, behind Makurdi Modern Market.
Kago said that the case was reported at the
Department of Criminal Investigation, ‘D’ Division,
Police Headquarters, Makurdi, by the victim’s
mother.
He submitted that the victim was walking on a
street when the accused dragged her into his house
and raped her.
He said the accused covered the woman’s mouth as
she shouted for help.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened
Section 284 of the Penal Code, Laws of Benue, 2004.
Ugoo’s plea could not be taken because the
prosecution said that investigation into the matter
was ongoing.
The Magistrate, Mrs. Lillian Tsumba, adjourned the
matter till Dec. 4 for hearing.

Chairman of the Progressive Governors ’ Forum
and governor of Imo
State , Owelle Rochas Okorocha , has disclosed
that his reason for joining the All Progressives
Congress (APC ) was to liberate the Igbo from
the many years of marginalisation and
neglect that they have suffered at the hands
of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP ) .
Okorocha stated this at the campaign rally
organised by the South -East elders and
leaders of the APC at the Igbozurumee Cultural
Centre, Enugu, Enugu State.
Okorocha maintained that it was necessary
for him to vie for the highest leadership
position in the country so that the Igbo could
reclaim their lost opportunities in the scheme
of things in the nation .
“ APC is the only party that can guarantee the
welfare of Ndigbo and the rest of Nigerians in
2015” he said.
He stated that, because the APC has not zoned
the presidency to any particular region of the
country , his emergence as President in the 2015
polls would surprise many, particularly the
PDP . He added that he had all the resources to
realise his ambition.
At the occasion, Okorocha also presented two
APC governorship aspirants in Enugu State,
Ifeanyi Asogwa and Chief Okey Ezea, to the
crowd at the rally.
Addressing the aspirants as Excellencies -in-
Waiting, the Imo State governor advised them
to emulate his leadership style when either of
them becomes the governor of Enugu . He
enjoined the people of Enugu State to vote the
APC come 2015 .
Also present at the rally were the former
governor of Anambra State , Chris Ngige, the
former National Vice Chairman of the APC
and governorship aspirant in Abia State ,
Nyerere Anyim , and many other party
stalwarts in the South- East.
